Etymology: Aphyosemion: Greek, aphye, -es, sardine, anchovy + Greek, semeion = mark, signal (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Celia Epie was the eldest daughter of John Epie, Manager of Meanja Rubber Estate, Cameroon. Scheel collected the type specimens from a stream near Epie’s home. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
